Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change
Formation, awareness generation and capacity building of community based Disaster Mitigation Task Force (DMTF) has been carried out by Rural Aid, Block Disaster Management Officer (BDMO), and District Disaster Management Officer. Practical and theoretical Training on post disaster situation at Block level by the District Civil Defense Department. Staff training has been carried out on Child Centric Disaster Risk Reduction (CCDRR)& Disaster Risk Reduction by State Inter Agency Group. The DMTF members spread awareness among the people and school level on importance of CCDRR. They prepare for Pre Monsoon Disaster Risk Reduction with Block administrative (BDMO) like rescue team, flood shelter team, health team, etc.
With regards to Climate Change, teachers and staff training on Climate Change, reasons for climate change and its consequences, awareness generation and capacity building on Climate Change within Community, tree plantation, awareness on and practicing alternate use of plastic (behavior change), and teaching children and communities about proper use of water and electricity.
Relief Distrubution to Migrant Labour & Children-:
At this period of lock down situation the migrant workers stranded in different places like Delhi, Punjb, Kashmir, Kerala etc. are in tremendous hardships. Many of these workers belonging to the families at tea gardens in Kalchini block have in the meantime returned to their homes and are in a deplorable state. Rural Aid is focusing in this area to provide helping hand to this suffering lot with direct support.
Awareness on WASH for COVID-19
Rural Aid, as an emergency awareness on WASH for COVID-19 are going on among the tea garden labours , with children, local market place and Indo- Bhutan Boarder area of Kalchini Block, District Alipurduar with the help of with the help of posters & Demostration like:- Hand wash, Elbow cough in to it , Keep safe distance.
